Secondary AP
Specialist Secondary Alternative Provision for pupils who need a different approach
Helping pupils rebuild confidence, re-engage with learning and move forward positively
Our Secondary Alternative Provision supports pupils who struggle to thrive in mainstream education by providing structure, consistency and personalised guidance.
We help young people re-engage with learning, build confidence and develop the routines, skills and behaviours that prepare them for their next steps.
A consistent approach
A structured environment where pupils can reset and make real progress
Secondary pupils join us at a point where mainstream education isn’t working. Our provision gives them a stable, predictable routine supported by staff who understand the challenges older pupils face. The environment is calm, respectful and designed to help young people settle quickly, focus on their day and begin easing back into learning.
Small groups and strong relationships mean pupils aren’t lost in the crowd. They feel seen, understood and supported, which makes it easier for them to build confidence and re-establish better habits. Over time, they become more engaged, more motivated and better equipped to handle the demands of school life.

Targeted Support
Helping pupils reconnect with learning at a pace that works for them
Academic work is purposeful and accessible, helping pupils rebuild key skills without feeling overwhelmed. Alongside this sits consistent, relationship-led mentoring that supports behaviour, mindset and resilience.
Each day blends learning with guided reflection, practical support and clear expectations. Pupils start to understand what helps them succeed, what holds them back and how to make more positive choices. The result is gradual, steady progress and a growing sense of capability.
Wellbeing and Regulation
Developing the skills pupils need to manage challenges and move forward
Many young people arrive struggling with behaviour, emotional regulation or relationships with peers and staff. We work closely with each pupil to understand their triggers, build coping strategies and develop healthier responses to stress and frustration.
Support is calm, consistent and built on trust. Pupils learn to communicate more effectively, manage conflict, regulate emotions and approach difficult situations with greater confidence. These improvements often translate into better attendance, stronger engagement and more positive interactions both in and out of school.
Next Steps
Supporting transitions back to school or towards new pathways
Every pupil’s journey is individual. Some return to mainstream with renewed confidence, while others move towards different education or training routes. Our role is to help pupils understand their strengths, build stability and leave us feeling more capable, motivated and ready for whatever comes next.
We work closely with referring schools, families and professionals to plan transitions carefully, ensuring pupils feel supported every step of the way.
