SAFEGUARDING

Keeping every pupil safe, supported and protected

Clear procedures, trained staff and a culture where safeguarding comes first
At Chances Mentoring, safeguarding is at the heart of everything we do. We are committed to creating a safe, supportive environment where pupils feel protected, respected and confident to speak up. All staff take their safeguarding responsibilities seriously and follow clear, robust procedures that meet statutory requirements.
Our Approach
A culture of vigilance, care and professional responsibility
We maintain strong safeguarding practices across all areas of our provision. Staff know pupils well, understand their needs and are trained to identify concerns quickly and respond appropriately. Clear communication between our team, mainstream schools and external agencies ensures that support is joined-up and effective.
Safeguarding is embedded into our daily routines, interactions and decision-making — not treated as a standalone process.

All staff receive safeguarding training appropriate to their role, including recognising signs of abuse or neglect, understanding contextual risks, and following reporting procedures. Training is refreshed regularly to ensure practice remains up to date with statutory guidance.
Staff also receive behaviour, de-escalation and wellbeing training to support a safe, calm environment.
Partnership
Strong communication that supports effective safeguarding
We work closely with mainstream schools, local authorities, parents, carers and multi-agency professionals.
Information is shared appropriately and securely so that decisions are based on a clear understanding of each pupil’s needs and circumstances.
