About Us

Helping pupils find stability, confidence and a way forward

A team committed to giving every child the chance to thrive through care and meaningful support
Chances Mentoring exists to support pupils who need something different from mainstream education. We provide calm, structured environments where children and young people can feel safe, understood and ready to re-engage with learning.
Our Purpose
Creating positive pathways for children who need a different approach
Our mission is simple: to help pupils overcome barriers, rebuild confidence and develop the skills they need to move forward positively.
We understand that mainstream settings don’t work for every child all the time. Our role is to provide a safe, supportive alternative that helps pupils settle, regain trust in adults and rediscover their capacity to succeed.
We focus on emotional wellbeing, behaviour, engagement and core learning, ensuring every pupil leaves us better equipped for their next steps.
How We Work
Structure, consistency and care at the heart of everything we do
We build strong relationships with pupils and offer the stability they often need. Our provision blends personalised support with clear expectations, helping pupils understand what’s expected of them and how to manage challenges more confidently.
Learning takes place in small groups, allowing staff to tailor teaching and support to individual needs. Calm routines, predictable days and positive reinforcement help pupils feel grounded and able to progress.
This balance of nurture and structure is what makes our approach effective.
What we believe
Principles that guide our work every day
Chances Mentoring is built on values that shape the way we support pupils:
Respect
Every child is treated with dignity and understanding.
Consistency
Clear routines and predictable expectations help pupils feel secure.
Communication
Working closely with families, schools and professionals to stay aligned.
Progress
Celebrating small steps and encouraging continuous development.
Safety
Creating environments where pupils feel protected, supported and able to speak up.
These values underpin our decisions, our relationships and the support we provide.
Our People
Experienced staff who understand the needs of pupils in AP
Our team includes experienced mentors, support staff and safeguarding leads who are trained to work with pupils who face emotional, social or behavioural challenges. Staff build trusting relationships, provide calm guidance and model positive behaviour every day.
They know that progress looks different for every pupil, and they take pride in helping children and young people grow in confidence and capability.

Partnership
Strong relationships with schools, local authorities and families
We work closely with mainstream schools, multi-agency professionals and families to ensure support is coordinated and consistent. Open communication helps us understand each pupil’s context, identify concerns early and plan appropriate interventions.
This collaborative approach ensures pupils receive the right support throughout their journey.
Looking ahead
Continuing to provide safe, supportive and effective Alternative Provision
Our goal is to keep developing environments where pupils feel safe, motivated and capable. We aim to strengthen our provision, build strong community partnerships and continue supporting pupils who need a positive alternative to mainstream education.
Every child deserves the chance to thrive — and that belief drives the work we do each day.
