Our Curriculum

A tailored curriculum that supports academic, social and emotional progress

Helping pupils re-engage with learning through structured teaching
Every pupil who joins Chances arrives with their own story, strengths and challenges. Our curriculum is designed to meet them where they are, rebuild confidence, and help them reconnect with learning at a pace that suits them.
A Clear Purpose
Designed to help every pupil move forward with confidence
Our intention is simple: to provide a curriculum that supports achievement while prioritising wellbeing, emotional regulation and readiness to learn. We aim to give pupils the structure, encouragement and guidance they need to make sustained progress and take positive steps back into education.

Improve emotional understanding
Build confidence through small successes
Our Approach
Structured teaching in a calm, supportive environment
Learning sessions are delivered in small groups, allowing staff to tailor teaching to each pupil’s needs. Predictable routines, clear expectations and consistent support help pupils feel settled and ready to learn.
Each day includes:
  • Focused teaching sessions led by experienced staff
  • Opportunities for personalised support and targeted intervention
  • Activities that develop resilience, confidence and curiosity
  • Positive routines that help reduce anxiety and improve engagement
  • Our approach ensures pupils experience success in manageable steps, gradually increasing independence and motivation.

    Primary Curriculum
Younger pupils benefit from a nurturing, structured approach that focuses on confidence, emotional security and core skill development. Learning is practical, engaging and designed to help children feel safe and ready to progress.
    Secondary Curriculum
Older pupils follow a more personalised programme to help them re-engage with learning, build essential skills and prepare for reintegration, qualifications or alternative pathways. Support is targeted, purposeful and matched to each individual’s goals.
    Meaningful Progress
Tracking growth in learning, behaviour and wellbeing
We measure progress in a way that recognises both academic achievement and personal development. Our staff monitor pupil engagement, behaviour, emotional regulation and learning milestones to ensure the support in place is effective.
This holistic approach helps us adapt the curriculum quickly and provide the interventions pupils need to keep moving forward.
    A shared approach
Strong communication with parents, carers and professionals
We work closely with mainstream schools, local authorities and families to ensure the curriculum meets each pupil’s needs. Regular updates, discussions and reviews help us understand what is working and what may need to change.
This partnership ensures every pupil receives consistent, coordinated support both inside and outside our provision.
